Dear Foster City Youth Softball families,
I hope that you are enjoying softball this spring. I'm writing you to introduce our new and improved Flash travel team program. It's an exciting program which gives players a more competitive environment to continue playing softball into the summer. This year we will offer teams at the 8U, 10U, and 12U levels.
The teams are essentially all-star teams that are selected through tryouts. We will hold these tryouts starting on May 1st. Players will be evaluated at that time, but performance through the spring season and player availability will also be taken into account. See the application form for more details.
The Flash will participate in tournaments throughout the peninsula. The 8U team will participate in 3 local tournaments where the emphasis will be on fun and learning. The 10U and 12U teams will play in three NorCal ASA pre-qualifying tournaments. Their seasons will culminate in the NorCal championship tournament at Twin Creeks in Sunnyvale. If the teams do well, they will be eligible to participate in the National Regional Championships in July in San Diego.
The league is recruiting the best coaches from our spring teams to lead the travel teams. Each team will have 4 highly committed coaches. The teams will practice more often than in the Spring, and have greater access to practice fields and the batting cages. During the travel season, it's not uncommon for a team to play over 16 games in 4 tournaments. It's an intense, but highly rewarding experience.
Players at the 8U level will receive an All-Star practice t-shirt, while the 10U and 12U players will receive an All-Star t-shirt and jacket.
